Tesco Clubcard Points for E.ON Energy Bills
E.ON energy customers will be able to use their Tesco Clubcard vouchers to help pay for their energy bills, as the two companies combine forces in a bid to help homeowners pay for bills.
For every £10 worth of Tesco Clubcard Reward vouchers customers accumulate, the new scheme will see them able to clear £15 off their energy bill. The vouchers are typically used by Clubcard holders to go towards money off food, but uSwitch suggests customers will get better value by using them towards their energy bills.
Customers can earn Tesco Clubcard points for payments made against their energy account if they are not on the Reward scheme.
“This is a consumer-friendly scheme that will help cash strapped households to meet the cost of their energy bills,” said Thomas Lyon, uSwitch energy expert.
“The average household shells out over £1,100 a year on energy bills. This scheme offers hard-pressed families greater flexibility in meeting this essential bill.”
According to uSwitch, the average household pays over £1,100 a year on energy bills, and Mr Lyon says he hopes the scheme is extended to cover all of E.ON’s tariffs to help the more vulnerable customers meet these bills.
According to research by Deloitte, as reported by the BBC, Brits’ disposable income is being squeeze due to the high cost of living, as bills grow and the nation’s incomes struggle to cover these essential outgoings.
The study revealed consumers are seeing an average drop of £780 in their disposable income. They showed disposable incomes were at their best in 2009, and it will take about another four years before the nation can enjoy this standard of living again.
Real incomes are expected to fall again this year, making it the fourth year in a row consumers have felt a fall like this since 1870. Real incomes are only expected to rise by the end of 2012.
