Saga scraps foreign credit card fees

Published on 1 January 1970 by Raffick Marday

Saga has joined Santander and the Post Office in charging no extra fee for worldwide purchases on its credit card.

Nationwide also offer a fee-free option, but that is for Europe only. All other credit card providers charge extra for buying abroad.

Which? has praised Saga's move and calls for other card providers to follow suit. However, their card is only available to the over-50s.

An alternative that is available to all is the prepaid credit card. To get one of these, you don't need a bank account and you can get them with no foreign transaction fee.
