Prepaid travel cards: the futureIf you're planning on travelling abroad soon, but you're worried about your currency being safe or getting the best deal, a prepaid card could be the perfect solution for you.

Thanks to a new Euro Mastercard from Currencies Direct, tourists, expats and business travellers can take advantage of the free to obtain and free to load prepaid card.

The card has no maintenance fees and is secure as it uses chip and pin technology.

The card will be issued by Newcastle Building Society and is accepted in millions of hotels, restaurants and ATMs.

With some prepaid cards you don't even get charged to use them abroad as you would do with some debit and credit cards.

By getting a euro currency card you usually get better exchange rates - on average 8 per cent better than exchanging at Airports and 4 per cent better than travellers' cheques. You can also keep a closer eye on how much you're spending whilst away.
