Prepaid credit cards could help under 21s

Published on 1 January 1970 by Raffick Marday

If you're under 21 and finding it difficult to get a credit card, a prepaid debit, which come with a Visa or MasterCard logo can be used in many different outlets.

They're also great if you're a parent and you want to help your kids who are under 21, to learn about managing their finances.

Once money is loaded onto the prepaid card, you're free to make purchases up to your cards limit. When it gets low you can add more on while keeping a close eye on your budget or savings.

You could also consider adding your son or daughter as an authorised user to one of your credit card accounts.

An extra card will be sent to them and you'll be able to easily keep track of their spending and payment habits.
