Orange Launch UK’s First Contactless Prepaid Card

The UK mobile network provider Orange has announced the launch of ‘’Orange Cash,’ a contactless prepaid credit Mastercard.

Using contactless card technology users can simply swipe the prepaid card against a contact reader and away you go.

The new Orange Cash prepaid card enables consumers to make small purchases of £15 or under whenever a contactless symbol is available. Costing just £5 to start with, the prepaid Orange cash card can hold a limit of up to £5,000.

Pippa Dunn, Vice President of Orange Propositions told Compare Pre Paid that she was excited about launching such an innovative product for UK consumers.

“With Orange Cash, users will not only benefit from the convenience and control our new contactless prepaid card will offer them, but the unique ability to collect and redeem rewards against future Orange products and services – helping them make their money really work for them each time they spend,” she said.

The UK’s first contactless prepaid card also works on a reward scheme so that customers on the Orange Pay As You Go mobile phone can use it.

Orange customers receive 1 Orange prepaid reward point for every £1 spent and the rewards include texts, airtime, credit or orange shop vouchers.

A lack of available credit for those with a poor credit history has made prepaid cards more attractive to many consumers. The fact that you can get a prepaid credit card without any credit checks and the fact that prepaid cards make it easier to stick to a budget because you can only spend the money preloaded onto your card, are reasons behind their growing appeal.

With all financial products though it is always advisable to shop around and compare prices and deals thoroughly online in order to find the best deals.
