Hotel Prices Rocket over Royal Wedding Weekend
The Royal wedding is set to see London hotel room prices rocket by 26 percent over the bank holiday weekend, new figures shows.
People planning on visiting London over the weekend to celebrate the Royal wedding may be forced to pay premiums of up to 113 percent, which is the equivalent to an extra £401, Santander Credit Cards reveals.
A two-night stay at a typical London hotel is about 26 percent more expensive on 28th and 29th April than a week later. However, tourists are urged to shop around to get the most for their money as some hotels are reducing their prices to ensure they get the business, such as a hotel near Marble Arch which is charging £102 less than the following week after the wedding.
“London is set to be a hot tourist destination on the wedding weekend, and with Friday 29th giving us an extra bank holiday, many hotels are basing their prices on supply and demand,” said Ian Coles, Santander Cards director.
“A good many hotels have increased their prices for the weekend, if visitors are prepared to look around there are some good deals still available.”
Bank Holiday Budgets
It appears Brits are taking the double bank holiday weekends as an opportunity to take a much needed holiday, to escape their financial worries. Over a third of British workers are planning to take a holiday this Easter, or have either taken one, Lloyds TSB revealed.
Those who are struggling to stay afloat financially, but still want to celebrate the bank holiday weekends either with a holiday, or a trip to London, may benefit from using a prepaid card to prevent them from overspending.
A prepaid card is a good aid for those on a budget as it does not let the user spend more than they loaded onto the card.
