Boost in bookings with BA as it emerges celebrities influence holiday choices
As if we weren’t already jealous enough of their lives of luxury, stars invoke further envy by uploading snaps from their holidays and posting them all over Twitter and other popular social media sites.

Barbados is a top destination among the rich and famous, and has recently attracted the likes of native Rihanna, Coleen Rooney, Simon Cowell and Olly Murs.
Gwyneth Paltrow posted pictures of her family enjoying a break in St Lucia, and the island is also a favourite with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
The celebrity culture of these destinations may be the reason behind the recent surge in holiday bookings to Barbados and St Lucia, with getaways to both blissful locations up by at least 130% compared to last year.
British Airways has witnessed a wave of bookings to ‘celebrity destinations’ during its January sale.
Claire Bentley, British Airways Holidays managing director, said: “The start of the year is always the busiest time for bookings – people are back at work and need something to look forward to.
“The wet weather over Christmas, combined with lots of enticing pictures of celebrities on holiday has clearly influenced the rise we’re seeing in beach holidays.”
The azure waters and beautiful beaches of Hawaii are a magnet for celebrities: Katy Perry, Jude Law and Steven Tyler have all holidayed there in the recent past, and it seems the rest of us are striving to emulate a celebrity-style holiday, with bookings to the island up by 100% in the past year.
Having been visited by Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski and Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, Mexico is also enjoying a surge in popularity.
It’s the same story for the ‘Spanish Caribbean’, with Alexa Chung, Nick Grimshaw and Pixie Geldof touted as the potential reason for increased bookings to Puerto Rico.
