Barclaycard launches new rewards

One of the UK's largest credit card companies has launched a new rewards programme.

Barclaycard is hoping its Freedom scheme will encourage new and existing customers to use their cards more often.

Shoppers will now be able to earn a standard one per cent cashback on their purchases funded by their credit card using 'Reward Money'.

A message at the till will tell them the value of their reward.

This can then be used with participating businesses across the country, including Pizza Express, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, the Flight Centre and npower.

It's thought that up to eight million current customers will automatically benefit from the scheme.

However, many experts have suggested that such benefit schemes are likely fall victim to cost saving efforts by credit card companies when they are forced to put newly announced rights for consumers into effect by the end of next January.
