Who can apply?
Anyone who is a UK resident aged 18 or over depending on the card as indicated above. We recommend you have your salary, banking and employment address details to hand to avoid any delays in applying.
Credit Card Application Process?
The RBS online application form takes a five minutes to complete with an easy step by step instructions and as you would expect secure website protection, make sure you have all the details with you as the application will ask you your personal details, details about your work, what type of card you want and finally confirm the legal, terms and conditions.
If you apply online between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday to Thursday, 8am-5pm on Friday you could get an instant decision. For all other applications you should hear from us within 7-10 working days.
What are the benefits of RBS Credit Card?
- Interest-free for 13 months
For a whole 13 months from account opening, you'll pay 0% interest on your balance transfers. You'll also receive 0% on purchase for six months from account opening.
At the end of the applicable introductory period, your transferred balances and purchases will be charged at your standard rates. There's just a 2.9% fee when you transfer a balance in the first three months, with a minimum fee of £5.

Default Charges?
£12 if the account is over the credit limit at any time during the statement period or if you fail to pay on time; administration fee of £10 to process dishonoured cheque or direct debit; administration fee of £12 to return unpaid promotional cheque to prevent you going over your limit.
What is the minimum payment I need to make each month?
Greater of 2.25% of your balance (rounded down to the nearest pound) or £5 each month. Please note: we do not recommend that you only ever make your minimum payment.
Missing payments could have severe consequences and make obtaining credit more difficult.
Optional PAYMENT PROTECTION INSURANCE?
While you can't work, Payment Protection pays up to 10% of your outstanding balance per month, for up to a year, direct to your RBS Credit Card.
Just 79p for each £100, or part thereof, of the highest balance on your statement that month.
RBS accept most people between 18 and 64, who live in the UK and have been in paid employment there for at least 16 hours a week for the last six months.
They may also be able to cover you if you're self-employed or on a fixed contract.
Where do i make a Complaint?
- Visit a branch - visit any of their branches and speak to a member of staff. Most of the branches are open from 9.15am - 4.45pm Monday to Friday (10am on Wednesdays). Some of the branches are also open on Saturdays. Smaller branches may have restricted hours and days.
- Write - address your letter to the Branch Manager or your Relationship Manager.
- Telephone - use your usual number for contacting The Royal Bank of Scotland. If you have access to our telephone banking service, Direct Banking, our Advisers are available at all times.
- Email - for security reasons, please do not include additional personal information. For this reason, They will respond to your email by telephone or letter.
However, if you are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint, you can write to the Financial Ombudsman Service at South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14 9SR.

Your right to cancel?
The Consumer Credit Act 1974 lays down certain requirements for your protection which should have been complied with when this agreement was made. If they were not, we cannot enforce this agreement without a Court order.
The Act also gives you a number of rights:
1) You can settle this agreement at any time by giving notice in writing and paying off the amount you owe under the agreement.
2) If you received unsatisfactory goods or services paid for under this agreement, apart from any bought with a cash loan, you may have a right to sue the supplier, us, or both.
3) If the contract is not fulfilled, perhaps because the supplier has gone out of business, you may still be able to sue us.
If you would like to know more about your rights under the Act, contact either your local Trading Standards Department or your nearest Citizens' Advice Bureau.
Once you have signed, you will have for a short time a right to cancel this agreement. You can do this by sending or taking a WRITTEN notice of cancellation to RBS. You will still have to repay any money lent to you. But if you repay all of it before your first payment is due, you will not have to pay interest or other charges.
