Who can apply for this credit card?

You must be over 18, a UK resident and have a landline phone number to get a Post Office MasterCard credit card. We recommend you have your salary, banking and employment address details to hand to avoid any delays in applying.

What are the default charges?

A cross-border fee of 0% will be applied to any transactions taking place outside the UK.
Each Balance Transfer is subject to a fee of 2.75%.
A fee of £5 will be applied for providing a duplicate statement.
Unpaid Direct Debit or cheque £12.00. Over credit limit £12.00. Late payment £12.00

What is the minimum payment that I will need to make each month?

The Post Office monthly minimum payment will normally be made up of the greater of 2.5% of the outstanding balance on your account (as shown on your statement) or £5.00, or the outstanding balance if less than £5.00, plus any monthly payment under the Payment Plan Programme. If you fail to make the monthly minimum payment on 2 consecutive occasions, any Payment Plan may be terminated and the Eligible Amount will revert to the variable standard rate of interest which would have applied but for the transfer to the Payment Plan.

What is my credit limit?

They will choose your credit limit and tell you what it is. They may vary it at any time and write to let you know. The credit limit may be increased after four months if you manage your account responsibly.

Where do I make a complaint?

If you would like to make a complaint about your Post Office credit card, you can write to them at Post Office Customer Care Freepost PO BOX 740 Brampton Barnsley S73 0UF. They have procedures in place which will make sure they handle your complaint fairly and quickly. However if you are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint you can write to Financial Ombudsman Service at South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14 9SR.
