Whether you know exactly which device and model you are after, or have never bought online before, it is worth taking a minute to run through the O2 shop to see their great range pf products and special offers.
Choosing between Pay Monthly versus Pay & Go comes down to your average monthly calling, texting and data usage. If you spend more than £15 per month topping up, then Pay Monthly may work out cheaper. However, some customers prefer Pay & Go or simplicity tariffs, as there is no lengthy contract.

Difference between Pay As You Go – Pay Monthly and Sim Only
If you do not want to enter into a O2 contract and prefer to pay for your calls upfront, then you may wish to select a O2 Pay As You Go tariff. Depending on the amount you top-up each month, you’ll receive free texts with Text Anytime, free minutes to selected international numbers of your choice with Your Country, or free minutes from your chosen postcode with Favourite Place.
O2 pay monthly tariffs is where you sign up to a 12, 18 or 24 month minimum contract (or 30 days with SIM Only tariffs) where you pay a monthly charge by Direct Debit. In return, you receive an inclusive allowance of minutes and texts depending on the O2 tariff you have signed up to. Any usage outside your allowance will be added to your bill.
A O2 SIM Only tariff available with a Pay Monthly contract or Pay & Go tariff. If you take a Pay Monthly SIM Only (simplicity) contract, you will save at least £10 per month versus the equivalent 18 month handset tariff. You may need to get your previous network or service provider to unlock the handset. A charge may be payable.
To buy online from the O2 shop you will need a credit card or debit card to pay for any one-off charges, such as the cost of your phone, SIM card or accessories. If you purchase an O2 item with a monthly (or recurrent) fee, you will be required to pay by Direct Debit for an Online Pay Monthly tariff — so you’ll need your bank details. Both Pay Monthly and Pay & Go customers will be asked for a valid email address to set up your online service. You’ll also subject to our terms, and a status and credit check. (Credit check only applies to Pay Monthly customers)
Once you have decided to join O2, you will need to contact your existing network provider to request a PAC number (Port Authorisation Code).
Then, once you have received your new O2 SIM card, you will need to give O2 customer services your PAC code. The easiest way to do this is by completing the form on O2 website. Once O2 have received your PAC code, your existing number will be transferred to your new O2 account within two working days.
Remember your PAC code is only valid for 30 days. If your number is currently on O2 Pay & Go, no PAC code is required to transfer your existing number across to your new SIM card. Just call O2 customer care once your new contract sim has arrived on 08705 678678. Your number will be transferred within two working days and any existing balance will be transferred and appear as credit by your second invoice.
Very disapointed with O2. I spent two days trying to get 02 to change my contract to my sons name. Up to now they have not done it. I am currently abroad and it has been a nightmare. A simple process of changing ownership of the contract to my sons name has turned to be a nightmare.
