Neon Prepaid Card MasterCard – Phones 4 U 6 reviews

Neon Prepaid card overview

The Neon Prepaid Card is for teenagers between 13 and 17 years of age and is the latest pay as you go chip and PIN MasterCard. The Neon Card is a MasterCard that works just like a pay as you go mobile phone – you can only spend what you have topped up. Parents are assured that there is no danger of their teenagers going overdrawn and no danger of incurring fees.

The Neon Card can be purchased online or at the Phones 4u store chain. A parent or guardian must tick to agree the terms and conditions at Neon-Prepaid-Card.com

Why get a Phones 4 U pay as you go credit card?

A great feature is that there is a complete online history just like an online bank account. So parents can monitor when, where and on what, money was spent – the card is barred for use for gambling, alcohol and tobacco retailers.

The Phones 4 U prepaid card do not charge a transaction fee or monthly fee.

What sort of service do they offer?

The Neon card offers parents the ability to educate their teens in modern money management. It teaches teenagers to live within their means. It keeps their money much safer than cash and allows spending online – where most teenage expenditure takes place. Teens want to be online for gigs, cinema tickets, music, games, travel etc and the Neon card means that they can buy without fees and not use parent’s cards ever again.

The Neon card offers up to 20% cashback from over 1000 participating retail partners (like Nike.com, i-Tunes and Pizza Hut Delivery). With the Neon card you can top up your mobile phone, from your handset 24 hours a day for free AND GET CASHBACK EVERY TIME YOU DO IT. This is a great parental feature because there is now no excuse for teenagers to be out of contact with parents.

Payment plans and prepaid card benefits

The Neon card can be used to shop online, in store and over the phone at over 28 million retail outlets and withdraw cash at over 1.5 million ATM’s worldwide which display the MasterCard Acceptance mark (restricted in gambling, alcohol, tobacco retailers). Neon under 18’s credit card limits are £500.00 for a 3 year personalised or non personalised card.

Who can apply for a card?

You can get a Neon prepaid MasterCard simply by being 13 years or older, resident in the UK and as long as the ID and address of a parent or guardian verifies online or proof is given in store. Once you have completed your online application you will receive your personalised Neon card in a maximum of 5 days.

NO credit checks are done as you are guaranteed to be accepted as long as you pay the application fee for the under 18’s credit card. Even if you have no credit you can still be accepted.

If you would like to make a complaint about your card, contact Customer Services on 0844 871 5444, or by email at customercare@neon-prepaid-card.com. However if you are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint you can write to Financial Ombudsman Service at South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14 9SR.

DO NOT BUY

This is a waste of money as it does not work on certain sites such as STEAM. It doesn’t say this anywhere and even says on the back of the card that it will work wherever you see the mastercard acceptance mark. NO, IT WON’T. I hate it when a company flat out lies to you and doesn’t offer you any refund options. This maddens me and want to hit something really bad.

I’m still waiting to be able to use my Neon card, which was ordered almost 6 weeks ago.

The first one never came. I can only assume the postman nicked it because the packaging is far too obvious.

The next card I was told wouldn’t work once I had activated it. I now have to wait for them to close my account and re-open a new account before sending me another card. I have no idea why this is getting done.

None of the marketing materials join up, so each one tells you to do something different making it hard to know how to get started without speaking to someone.

The agents on the phone are like robots and whilst they can help, the systems in place for service and delivery are really really poor.

It’s just a prepaid card, I can’t see what the problem is. How hard can it be?
