MeCard the new under 18’s pay as you go MasterCard

Is there such a thing as money for nothing? MeCard, the new prepaid competitor seems to think so!

It surely is a sign of the times when the offer of “free” anything prompts raised eyebrows and demands to examine the small print.  Surveys and opinion polls show that time and again, consumers are increasingly resistant to being taken in by offers that seem too good to be true.

Yet there is a product, a new prepaid card whose launching offer is not to be sniffed at!

Enter MeCard. It’s a new prepaid card designed for families: parents and teenagers to be more precise. A parent or guardian signs up for a primary card and as many secondary teen cards as needed. The primary (parent) and secondary (teen) cards are linked online allowing the parent to top up their MeCard, and then share the funds between teen cards, as pocket money and such. Parents can view the balance of all linked teen accounts and can even view the transaction statements if desired.

MeCard is offering £10, loaded free onto each teen card applied for. All you need to do is sign-up, receive card, and activate it for £10 to be loaded to teen cards free of charge. What’s more this is £10 to be spent anywhere! Parent cards are free to sign-up for when purchasing at least one teen card.

Teen cards do cost £9.99 each and as with all prepaid cards, on-going charges do apply. To some, this may take the shine off the touted “Free exclusive £10 give-away”.  It could be perceived as a simply a “free” product which pays for itself, rather than a free gift.

Regardless of these perfectly valid points, it’s the still the best opening offer on the prepaid market. Grab it while it lasts, they surely won’t be able to give £10 to every customer for ever!
