Re: Emigrating - best way to move money overseas?

Hi Sarah,

Yes you are correct. I actually work for Tor FX, one of the UK's largest foreign exchange providers who specialise in overseas money transfers and can get you a far better rate of exchange than your bank - plus the transfer is free (unlike with a bank)

Contact me direct ian.cragg@torfx.com and I'll give you a call back and explain the process.

Thanks

As for me banks are more reliable. It's not so safe to use unknown companies.

Hi Sarah
Its a lot saver to use the banks no matter what you think of them. I had the same issues going to Canada last year.

Banks are still the best means. It pays to spend a bit more for security.

Re: Emigrating - best way to move money overseas?

I used a bank years ago, higher fees but i got peace of  mind

Re: Emigrating - best way to move money overseas?

I use banks because in my opinion they are still very secure.. I wouldn't do it any other way!

I think banks are more secure no matter fees are higher

Re: Emigrating - best way to move money overseas?

I agree with everyone here who thinks banks are the safest in moving money overseas.

Hi Sarah,

probably a bit late, but there are few ways to move money about, just depends on whether you want  to do it 'officially' or not. I know someone who worked abroad and would just pull money from his foreign account via an ATM in the UK. Another way is to use PayPal. You can also use prepaid mastercards to do international transfers. I use the Blue Sky Prepaid MasterCard and their companion card to send money to family overseas. The transfer can be done online, and it's instant and free. Only thing is that you still have to pay for loading charges (not much relatively speaking if you are transferring larger amounts).

Anyway, you might want to check them out at http://www.what-prepaid-card.co.uk

Nick.
