OFT makes credit card comparison easier

Credit Card lenders are to change the way that they conduct credit checks in order to make it easier for UK consumers to shop around for the best deals.

According to the Financial Times, the Office of Fair Trading wants to ensure that consumers do not have their credit rating damaged by checking multiple quotes for credit.

In the past some companies have incorrectly mistaken shopping around as desperation for credit and have sometimes refused lending.

Under the new rules customers will be able to shop around much more freely to make sure they get the best deal.
