Credit card giant stops data passing
Visa have introduced measured to prevent online retailers from passing credit card users' data onto other merchants.

The move comes after the US Senate reported that 35 million consumers had lost out on more than $1.4bn in the last decade through the practice.

Data passing happens when people reach the checkout of an online store and are offered a discount or reward card.

Often, this is from a third party who can charge fees that the customer was not aware of until they receive their credit card bill.

Visa's Martin Elliott stated that credit card users should only pay for what they intend to buy, not fees that are "foisted on them through deceptive data-pass schemes".ADNFCR-2939-ID-19749958-ADNFCR
