People heading abroad during the school half term break are being urged to take time out to compare credit cards to avoid any nasty surprises when they get back.
That's according to research, which is encouraging travellers to pack the right plastic when they go abroad as the cost of using an inappropriate card can quickly add up.
It's also suggested that travellers investigate prepaid credit cards before they leave.
The cards are becoming increasingly popular with holiday makers on a budget as they can be topped up before they go and then used like a normal credit or debit card.
They also usually offer a competitive exchange rate to as well.
