Budget Bills with a Prepaid Credit Card
Energy prices are beginning to rise as Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) announced its gas prices will rise by 9.4 percent from 1st December.
If you are finding it hard to budget all your bills a prepaid credit card could help you retain control over your spending.
The increase on a standard gas tariff will affect around 3.6 million customers while the average household bill for a dual fuel with SSE will go up to £1,159 from £1,226.
The research by uSwitch.com also found that price rises in 2008 saw the average bill rocket by 42 percent.
“With winter about to kick-in this is a body blow for consumers,” said Ann Robinson, uSwitch.com’s consumer policy director.
“For many, bills are already in the realms of the unaffordable – any increases will simply see more people forced to think long and hard about whether to heat their home or cook a meal – this is unacceptable.”
SSE is the first of the big six suppliers to announce a price increase since 2008 showing energy bills are on the rise again – similar to how they were two years ago.
The difference between the cheapest energy plan on the market and the most expensive is currently £422.
Compare Prepaid Credit Cards
If you are worried about how you are going to cope with increased fuel bills a good way to monitor your everyday spending and to aid budgeting is to use a prepaid credit card.
Unlike normal credit cards, a prepaid one does not let the user get into debt or spend more than is loaded onto the card.
Most cards can be bought for a small price and you can start using them as soon as you have transferred some money across.
So if you plan on spending a certain amount each month on fuel this can be kept aside untouched as you can know you are not overspending.
