Orange or T-Mobile brand could be gone by end of 2012

Everything Everywhere, the owner of Orange and T-Mobile, could drop one of the brands before the end of the year, it has been announced.

Everything Everywhere is the UK’s largest network by subscribers, following the merger of T-Mobile and Orange’s services last year.

The company could phase out either its T-Mobile or Orange brand in favour of a new name for its services. This move would save millions for Everything Everywhere’s parent companies Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom.

A decision on whether one of the brands will be dropped is due to be made by the end of the year, but both parent companies are said to be reluctant to give up their respective brands.

“The Group has completed a review of its branding strategy for the future, and has considered a range of options. At this time, the Group  will  continue  to maintain  and  invest  in  both  of  its  existing  brands, Orange  and T-Mobile,” Everything Everywhere said in a statement.

“The development of an additional or new brand is an option under consideration, which may be complementary to or in substitution for one or both of the existing brands of T-Mobile and Orange. The Group is continuing to assess such an option.”

Orange recently launched a new prepaid credit card, offering Orange customers a range of rewards. These include Orange shop vouchers, free minutes for pay-as-you-go customers, and Orange reward points.

Orange is currently offering customers a refund on their £5 sign-up fee if they load £20 on to the card by 29th February, but this offer is only available with Compare prepaid until 31st January.
