More shoppers than ever are buying their Christmas gifts online rather than in the shops, according to PayPal.
Up to 41 per cent more people living in big cities around the UK now prefer to shop in their slippers, from the comfort of their own home.
Glasgow has seen the biggest increase in online shoppers. Nearly two-thirds of the city's population say they prefer to log on to the high street instead of braving the cold weather to fill their loved ones' stockings.
PayPal's MD says the online shopping trend looks set to continue – "especially as we love the convenience".
But PayPal gives a word of caution to consumers to keep their credit card details secure to avoid the threat of fraud.
