The AA Reward Plus credit card becomes universally available

October 25, 2011

The AA Reward Plus credit card, which previously was only available to AA members, is now available to anyone who wishes to apply for it.

With 3% cash back on fuel, the AA card is designed to help drivers manage their petrol and diesel purchases by helping them to cut back on fuel spending. Offering 0.5% on all other purchases also allows customers to earn cash back on everything else they buy. The card also offers 19.9% (variable) representative APR on card purchases.

“The AA card isn't complicated by confusing spending rules or limited periods. It delivers 3 per cent back on fuel up to £2,000 spend per year - that's the equivalent of an average £60 fill-up.  It's more than the national average annual spend on petrol of about £1,700,” said Mark Huggins, director of AA Financial Services.

Reward cards compared

To show how valuable their card is, the AA produced figures based on the annual customer spend scenario and calculated how much cashback clients would obtain with three different reward credit cards: AA Rewards Plus, Santander 123 and American Express Platinum Cash Back.

The table considered an annual fuel spend of £2,000, department store spending of £800, supermarket spending of £2,100 and other types of spending (such as holidays) of approximately £2,000.

Based on the conditions of the three credit cards, the AA Reward plus gave annual cash back of £84.50, the Santander 123 of £73.00 and the American Express Platinum Cash Back of £82.81.

Cardholders like to feel that they are rewarded for their spending and card brands get more benefits due to increased spending from their clients. Compare credit cards to see the latest offers.
