Need help finding a credit card?  Many providers offer deals which can appear to be the same, but if you follow these tips you will be able to identify an offer that best suits your financial needs.

Interest Free Period

There are currently many competitive offers on the market with a period of up to 16 months. Some banks offer deals where a balance transfer has 0 percent interest.  If you have credit card debt and wish to move it to take advantage of this free borrowing these are worth considering.

Long Term

If you are looking for a credit card to pay for monthly bills or other essentials for the long term and intend on paying back the bill in full, or close to this each month, it is worth investigating offers which provide a low level of interest from the start but one that remains consistent.

Opting for a 0 percent deal is not a good option long term due to the high interest which is charged after the interest free period is over.

Rewards

To differentiate between providers which offer similar rates of interest for the same period look into the rewards they offer.

Some give customers cashback or bonuses for transferring an account, while others credit the customer’s account if they pay the bill in full.

Credit History

If you have a good credit history you should be able to acquire any credit card you wish to take out, however in the current climate, those with a poor credit rating may find it harder. Be aware that you may have to endure high rates of interest and if you do be sure you are able to pay the bill each month so you do not incur these which could build up as extra debt.
