Clients’ preference for online banking leads to shift in attitude

New research shows that more people are now banking online than going into high street branches. Considering this trend, Nationwide have re-designed their internet banking service to better meet their customer needs.

With 77% of consumers banking online - compared to 69% who use branches and only 16% preferring to use telephone banking – the latest figures published by Nationwide suggest that online banking is becoming the preferred method for Brits to carry out their financial business.

In fact, 47% of people claimed that having a good internet banking service is very important to them when choosing a current account.

Because of this, Nationwide have become the latest bank to improve their internet banking services, enabling members to have more control of their finances.

"Our research shows that online banking has become a must for customers and as a result we wanted to provide a new and improved service to continue to help to make our members' lives easier,” said Richard Searle, Nationwide's head of channel integration.

New features integrated in this re-launched service named ‘On Your Side' will be a modern and fresh design with quick links to popular transactions.

Users will also enjoy a new calendar view of transactions –where they can easily view money coming in and going out of their account. There will also be a clear and simple statement view option and easy to understand graphs which compare income against spending and track bank accounts balances.

The main objective is to make navigation of online banking easier. That is why it has also improved sorting and filtering of statements view, a quick and easy process for setting up payments and a step by step guide.
