Halifax launches its longest balance transfer credit card deal

August 22, 2011

Halifax bank has launched a market leading 22 month 0% offer available for their new credit card customers; it is their longest balance transfer ever. Halifax clients will also be able to choose a 17 month 0% balance transfer card.

Halifax bank customers will be able to choose between two balance transfer credit cards. One offering 0% on balance transfer for 22 month with a 3.5% fee (maximum transfer limit £3,000) and another one giving 0% on balance transfer for 17 month with a 3.0% fee (no maximum transfer limit).

Therefore, a new Halifax customer transferring £3,000 from a competitor's credit card with an APR of 18.9% will make significant savings, claims the bank brand. This means that a maximum total of £760 could be saved in interest payments over the 22 month period, even including the balance transfer fee.

"We are delighted to be able to offer this latest balance transfer deal, our longest ever. With this new addition to the Halifax credit card range consumers now have even more options available to them, be it balance transfers, low rates or fee free cards," said Jasjyot Singh, Acquisition Director at Halifax Credit Cards.

Halifax supports First-time Buyers

Last week Halifax and CreditExpert (from Experian) launched a new partnership designed to increase First Time Buyers (FTB) chances of buying a house.

With that new service, Halifax applicants who do not get approved for a mortgage because of their credit score will have access to a bespoke CreditExpert membership. This will give them unlimited access to a team of fifteen credit experts that will help them to analyse their financial situation and turn the situation around so they can aim to buy their first house.

Those whose bank account credit score is an obstacle for having a mortgage will be the kind of clients that will benefit from this new service.
