Post Office says prepaid cards are safe abroadUK travellers can save themselves unnecessary additional costs by taking a prepaid travel money card or buying foreign currency in advance of their holiday.

This comes from the Post Office, following new research which reveals that more than seven in 10 UK holiday makers use their debit cards at ATM’s abroad to withdraw currency.

More than half of people questioned also admitted to using their debit cards to pay for goods rather than local currency.

Post Office Travel services urge holidaymakers to plan ahead when buying travel money, as withdrawing from an ATM abroad can be riddled with hidden charges.

Using a prepaid travel card means you don’t have to worry about carrying cash around with you and are accepted all the places where Visa or MasterCard credit cards usually are.
