Holiday spending habits changingMore than half of British people choose cash when paying for things on holiday.

New research from Santander’s leading to concerns travellers are risking their safety while abroad, when they could be using a prepaid travel money card, or take advantage of special deals.

Most Travel money cards don’t charge a transaction fee or ATM charge, unlike most ordinary credit or debit cards, which typically incur a 2.75 per cent foreign exchange fee.

Santander’s Zero Current Account also doesn’t charge for withdrawals from any of their ATMs around the world.

Meanwhile the study found the traveller’s cheque is definitely on its way out, with just one in twenty people using them.
